By default, Adobe Premiere Pro does not allow opening project files created in newer versions, displaying an error message like "This project was saved in a newer version of Premiere Pro and cannot be opened in this version." To resolve this project error, you must convert the project file structure to a compatible older format. 1. Go to the Creative Cloud Desktop app, click the three dots next to Premiere Pro, and select Uninstall. (Choose whether to keep or remove your preferences/plugins).
2. Once uninstalled, click the three dots again and choose Other Versions.
3. Click Install next to the specific legacy version you need. This is the safest way to change the active software build installed on your machine.
