Trying to load an .ffx effect preset in an older copy of After Effects? You've probably hit error 26 :: 280 or a dialog saying the preset was saved by a newer version. Our FFX Downgrader rewrites the preset's version header so an older After Effects build accepts it — instantly, free for presets up to 50KB. The preset itself never leaves your device.
Downgrading rewrites the version header only. A preset built on an effect or parameter that did not exist in the target version can still be rejected, or can load with those values defaulted, so it's worth opening the result once to confirm it looks right before handing it off.
